Public Safety Answering Points

Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP’s):  An entity operating under common management which receives 9-1-1 calls from a defined geographic area and processes those calls according to a specific operational policy.

    • Primary PSAP:  A PSAP to which 9-1-1 calls are routed directly from the 9-1-1 Control Office.
    •  Secondary PSAP:  A PSAP to which 9-1-1 calls are transferred from a Primary PSAP.

The Lake County Emergency Telephone System Board currently provides equipment, software and maintenance to two primary and one secondary PSAP’s.  These PSAP’s answer and process police, fire and rescue calls for the following areas; Antioch, Beach Park, Deer Park, Green Oaks, Hawthorn Woods, Indian Creek, Island Lake, Kildeer, Lake Barrington, Lake Villa, Lake Zurich, Lakemoor, Lindenhurst, Long Grove, Mettawa, North Barrington, Old Mill Creek, Port Barrington, Park City, Third Lake, Tower Lakes, Wadsworth, Volo, Wauconda and unincorporated Lake County.
